Brown, Zack (5th Grade)

Mr. Brown
This is my tenth year of teaching in Asheville and my third year at Oakley. After graduating from Kennesaw State University in Georgia I spent two years teaching abroad at a private school in Mexico City.
My wife is the librarian at Claxton Elementary and we have two daughters, 7 and 4, the oldest of which is at Oakley in the dual language program. In my free time, I am an avid runner and also enjoy music, reading, cooking, keeping chickens and gardening.
As an educator, I believe strongly in building a class community that encourages and values diversity, kindness, collaboration, and perseverance. Giving students a voice through classroom meetings is the main way we build community. I recognize that each student is unique and I strive to meet the needs of every learner.
