Hello and welcome to fourth grade! This is my second year at Oakley Elementary; however, I have been working in various aspects of education since 1997 teaching Kindergarten, first and fifth grades. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Mars Hill College and my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Arkansas State University. I am a National Board certified teacher and am licensed to teach in grades K-6.
My goal in teaching is to never let the children know they are learning. I strive to achieve this by making learning fun and, hopefully, build a lifelong desire of learning. My true love is teaching children to love books and reading as much as I do!
I have a daughter who graduated from Buncombe County schools and AB Tech. I also have two very spoiled dogs, Bailey and Henry. They are often the focus of my example writing stories.
Step into my classroom and you will immediately notice our classroom is filled with books and moose – two of my favorite things! I love to integrate technology into my teaching so you also will notice a variety of digital tools always at the ready. There is often a stashed away Coca-cola on my desk and a wall space covered in notes and artwork from my students.
Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your child’s life! I look forward to an exciting school year.
