STEM Club

Oakley Elementary After-School STEM Club!

Do you enjoy science, building, design, tinkering??  STEM Club is a 7- week after-school club organized by Mr. Schmidt. 

 STEM club will be a fun opportunity for kids to develop skills such as:

               ·         Planning, design, and testing hypothesis

·         Collaboration, risk-taking, sharing creative ideas

·         Inquiry, building, and creating

 The STEM club meets Thursdays after school between 2:30-3:30 in Mr. Schmidt’s room.  

STEM Club meets the following days:  Oct. 6, Oct. 13, Oct. 20, Oct. 27, Nov. 3, Nov. 10, and Nov. 17.

Some examples of activities include:

---K'nex Roller Coaster Challenge!  - Designing and building a 'roller-coaster' device that keeps a ball on the track for the longest time.

----Kano Computer Kits and Makey Makey!  - These are technology hardware tools that have kids programming and building a computer.

----Aurasma - creating videos and presenting them using the Aurasma app.
